Supporting open science with the first data science specific IDIQ at NIH!

“It’s just a matter of the pieces that you have around you and what you can do to elevate everybody else.” Kobe Bryant

Very proud to announce on behalf of the team at DTI that everyone’s hard work has paid off. Yesterday we were awarded the first data science specific IDIQ contract (indefinite deliverable / indefinite quantity) in the history of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Competition was tough but we made it!

We’ll be growing the company to support Andy Singleton’s lab and the vision he has helped to create with the NIH’s newly formed Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias for the next 5 years. We’ll use this privileged position to build open science tools for accelerating neurodegenerative disease (NDD) research as a community. Removing silos and making data more accessible, harmonized and usable is a major goal, as is democratizing tools and increasing the inclusivity in the fields of NDD research and data science.

To start this five year plan on a solid foundation with a precise level of focus, we’ve identified three overarching goals:

  1. Build technology products that help the entire NDD community and beyond. Academic papers and other advances will naturally occur as side effects of product development and utilization. Check out the product system outlined below for details.

  2. Support and train the next generation of data scientists from diverse backgrounds. Did I mention we partnered with the Foundation for the Advanced Education in the Sciences at NIH and the University of Maryland Baltimore County to set up a Biomedical Data Science Masters Degree program? Come learn with us, more details to follow in the next few weeks but the first cohort starts in early 2021!

  3. Elevate NDD research as a community not competing silos. Democratize tools, harmonize data, invest in transparency and knowledge transfer! The only way we make progress is as a global team.

Please check out our foundational product system below. If you are interested in hearing more details or starting collaborations, email info@datatecnica.com or hit us up on twitter @DataTecnica.

Thanks!
